English Funhouse
Okay... I know I haven't updated the "news" in a while.
Currently, I'm working on a kid's show for a company in China called Aston English. They have many schools that teach Chinese children to speak English.
I'm doing 5 1/2-hour episodes. The show is called "English Funhouse" and features Pencilman, Tim the Eraser and me. It's a nice mix of 3D animation, live action and 2D animation.

Crab Trap - the Movie
I just finished work on a new screenplay called Crab Trap.
It's about a Florida musician who runs into his "dead" father one night. The father tells him about an important crab trap left out in the bay from their days crabbing together.
I'll be shooting it myself this summer (July & August). We have a great cast so far including: Jessica Alexander, Billy Martinez, Ben Rawnsley, Bonnie Smith, Scotty Isert, Dalton Hamilton, Nancy Cole, Petrus Antonius and Steve Mountan.
We are still currently looking for a few roles and production people.

Pencilman in new Children's Show
Pencilman is featured in a new pilot for a children's show. Jason Hicks (former lighting director for the Gorilla Theatre) and I wrote the script and created the whole thing. It was made for a company in China that teaches English to Chinese kids.
Take a look at the video (it's about twenty minutes long). Watch it with your kids! It features live action integrated with 3d, as well as 2d animated segments.

Sean's St. Pete Times interview...
A couple of nights ago, the phone rang at about 9:30pm and when I picked up and heard "St. Pete Times" and I almost started yelling because of sourse I thought it was a sales call. But no, it was Ernest Hooper (very funny guy) who writes a column for the paper. He heard about the Hershey contest and wanted to interview me. Y'know... maybe I will buy that subscription after all...

Hershey's Commercial
I just received word that my video is in the Top 10 in the Hershey's "Take 5 Film Competition". The idea was to make a funny video (one minute or under) featuring the Take 5 candy bar. Billy Martinez, Jessica Alexander, Ben Rawnsley and Bonnie Smith all helped with the video. Billy and I are featured in the spot. Watch the Video >>>
American Express/Tribeca Short
Film Competition
In April I won an iPod after entering the American Express/Tribeca 15 sec. film competition. The judges were Martin Scorsese and M. Night Shyamalan.

 Arts Council Grant Winner
This year I was a recipient of the Hillsborough County Arts Council Individual Artist Grant. It was a huge help to me and much appreciated. I received the grant for my work on the Pencilman animations. Stay tuned to see the first full-length Pencilman! |
